Gaming Day For A Great Cause
Posted on: Thursday, November 12th, 2009
What is Gaming Day? The Commons, a part of the QEII Library at Memorial University, hosted the first Gaming Day last fall, in support of the Iris Kirby House and the MUN food bank. This year, on November 13th, 2009, this charity event will occur once again.
Gaming Day is an event in which gamers can get together in a relaxed environment and participate in friendly gaming. It is not only for hardcore gamers, as there will be something for everyone. There will be games such as Wii Resort Sports, Wii Mario Kart, and Worms 2: Armageddon provided, also, the option of a wide variety of board games.
Established in 1981, The Iris Kirby House offers protection for physically, emotionally, sexually or economically abused women and children. Although the shelter is located in St. John’s, it also provides service to women from all across the Avalon Peninsula, the Southern Shore, and Placentia Bay.
