Here’s to another successful festival
Posted on: Monday, October 26th, 2009This post is a little late, but I feel it’s important to send out a message telling everyone that the closing night gala for the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival was freaking awesome. Everyone was polite, high-spirited, gracious and enthusiastic. The workers, the volunteers, the film-goers…everyone wore a grin.
I’m not a movie critic, but I loved Crackie (directed by Sherry White). I was completely enraptured by the movie, which I feel is significant because I have the memory span of a goldfish. Meghan Greeley and Mary Walsh were the ultimate duo in this movie about young Mitsy’s fight to get on her feet and come to terms with her estranged mother. I figure that any movie that can move everyone around me to tears is considered a success.
Did I mention the film sold out way in advance? True story.
Anyway, the film was followed by a reception in the Arts & Culture Centre, and an after party at The Majestic. Wine, sequined dresses and great music? Perfect night.
Can’t wait for next year’s festival!
