This Friday’s lunch: Manna delivered
Posted on: Friday, September 4th, 2009
As awesome as Manna Bakery is, most people wouldn’t want to spend their lunch hour inching through traffic to try and squeeze into their location on the corner of Thorburn and Freshwater and grab a bight — fresh, delicious and reasonably priced as it might be.
Lucky for most people, Manna has a kick-ass online ordering service where you can pick and choose from their vast selection of sandwiches, salads, platters, breads, cheeses, hot meals, deserts, and much, much more, and have it delivered to your door.
The site is as easy to use as it is thorough. When you select an item you’re asked how many you’d like and there’s an option to include special instructions.
Certain items, like sandwiches, will also ask you specific questions like what kind of bread you’d like and offers you a range of choices. If you forget to make a selection and click ADD TO ORDER, the website gives you a friendly reminder that you haven’t chosen your bread yet.

Changing quantities and adding or removing items is easy, too. You can set the time and even the date for when you’d like your delivery made (they note it can take up to 90 minutes for large orders so be sure to order well enough in advance) and you can switch to take out at any time if you’d rather go pick it up yourself. Either way, there’s an option to pay online with your credit card, but you can also choose to pay by cash or cheque when you receive your order.
There is a $10.00 delivery charge and a $1.00 service fee to be aware of, but if you’re ordering for a large group, like at the office, that’s easily absorbed.
I have to say Manna, I’m impressed. I think this makes for a great way to order meals like lunches and dinners and even household groceries. What do you think?
Thanks, Adam, for passing this on!

I think online grocery orders with delivery would make the world a better place. Seriously. It would cut down on the carbon footprint. I’m a student in a grocery store-less area and for me to get groceries, it takes a 20 minute bus ride both ways, or even a cab back if I have a lot of stuff. Needless to say, I don’t get to the grocery store often. If grocery stores had an online inventory and delivery service, I would eat better.

Kayla: Coleman’s delivers. $50 minimum order and $8 delivery charge, if I recall. I’ve never used them, but it might be worth it if you have a lot to buy.

Thanks guys for the great comments.
Sometimes when you try something like our new online ordering, you wonder if it really works for people.
Your comments were just what we hoped customers would think.
The other feature we thought people might like, was the ability to save your order, so you and we wouldn’t have to go through the details of repeat orders.
Thanks again!!
