Marc Emery puts the weed in dickweed

The prince of pot is coming to St. John’s to preach the good word.
Marc Emery, famous/infamous leader of the B.C marijuana party and publisher of Cannabis Culture magazine, is about to be thrown in jail for selling pot seeds to the U.S. and so he’s doing a farewell tour to rally up support for his cause.
Judging by the title of this post, you’d think I was not in favour of his cause, but I am. I just think the movement to decriminalize pot has a horrible ambassador.
At a lecture in Victoria, B.C last year, Emery identified pot smokers as a people and compared the prohibition of marijuana with discrimination against Jewish and Chinese people.
He also claimed that pot smokers were “responsible for everything good in the world” and that they were the best and most persecuted people on earth. I’m not making this shit up.
I wonder why perfectly reasonable, forward thinking individuals support this wing nut’s spewing of ahistorical, inflammatory bullshit.
I’m more than riled up about how much of the province’s police resources are wasted getting pot off the streets lately, but I can’t get behind this dink.
Emery will be speaking at Bannerman Park from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 29. If you’re going, consider asking him to defend the comments he made at the University of Victoria in March of last year.
